Vocabulary
Ashes : Fine particles of mineral matter from a volcanic vent.Long after the fire burned down she stared at the ashes ,tears coursing down her cheeks.
Eruption : Outburst, outbreak. The town was destroyed by the volcanic eruption.
Molten : Melted by heat. Molten glass is spread upon a large iron plate of the required shape and dimensions.
Crust : The outer part of a planet. Earths crust can be many miles thick.
Magma : Hot liquid rock below the surface of the Earth. Magma chambers still lie beneath many georthermal regions.
Crater : The area on top of a volcano that is shaped like a bowl. Great steams of lava flowed from the crater in ancient times.
Lava : Melted rock from a volcano. Lava flows from the crater and shooting up plumes of ash.
Active : Currently erupting. Mount St. Helens in the USA is an active volcano.
Dormant : Not active. The bears lay dormant in their den during the winter.
